To Hell with Journals aims to revive the role of the journal in England’s literary scene. Published with a lifespan of only twenty-six issues (A to Z), this thoughtfully produced journal aspires to be a document of our times and a testament to the chaos of the creative process. To Hell’s independent nature and very limited print runs will allow its contributors freedom from the constraints of fashionable trends and commercial concerns.
To Hell with Journals believes there is space for something with integrity, weight and chutzpah without indulging in puritanical literary elitism. It approaches culture as something vital, to be lived and experienced in all its romance and joyful messiness.
As well as the established literary greats, To Hell with Journals features up-and-coming and unknown writers as well as work from voices outside the usual literary circles. Each journal will feature a different guest editor who will ensure that every To Hell journal will have something to say on the big questions of our time.
To Hell with Journals D: Inside is a journal that brings inside its literary frontiers a set of visual artists with a single rule, captured in a single word: Fiction. The word has been sent and came back, shattered, exploded in a series where each answer constitutes a different form of appropriation. Thus, in few hours, machines will print a prismatic set of fictional shapes: a Photographic-story, a Joke, a Script, a Performance instruction, an Interview, a Pattern, a Short story, a Portrait, a Frozen moment, an Epilogue, a Diary, a Poem, an Essay, a Hyper-reduced legendary novel, a Two-handed story, an Image. Sixteen versions of what a fiction can be.
